Supporting Gladstone locals

Integreat Queensland has welcomed $144, 300 in State Government funding for two of our Skilling Queenslanders for Work program initiatives which will assist 30 Gladstone locals joining the workforce.

Learning Facilitator Jaclyn Thompson said Integreat Queensland helps disadvantaged people to settle into the local community.

“The funding will go towards getting people into a Certificate 3 in Hospitality or Individual Support,” she said.

“There is a lot of demand for people with those qualifications in Gladstone, so we have a high success rate for people who finish these courses.

“We support the participants and help them with whatever they need to finish the course.

“At Integreat, there really is something for everyone.”

The State Government has committed $2.567 million from its Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative to assist 537 people from Central Queensland.

Training and Skills Development Minister Di Farmer said the 17 funded projects in Central Queensland would assist people from a variety of backgrounds, including young people looking for their first jobs, women returning to the workforce, migrants and refugees making a new life in Queensland and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people wanting to support their community.

“The benefits these projects produce reach beyond the individuals who are recruited,” Ms Farmer said.

“It flows through to support their families and improve communities as well as assist businesses in a range of industries.”
