Ignite Community Art - a multi-cultural mobile art installation is an exciting project that engaged Central Queensland artists working in glass, resin, recycle art and Indigenous painting to create approximately 120 artworks through community workshops held in Gladstone, Rockhampton, Biloela, Agnes Water, Yeppoon, and Emerald.
The artists. along with community workshop and participants from over 20 nations, created a series of artworks which have been fashioned to an architectural designed mobile art installation integrated into a steel framework and fitted to a trailer which now travels throughout Central Queensland and is available for festivals, events, and local exhibitions.
The Story and Artists
The philosophy and context underpinning this community-based multi-cultural artwork initiative is the value it brings to the intercultural wellbeing of the Central Queensland community. At Integreat Queensland, we believe art and culture is intrinsic to creating a diverse community and are powerful tools to facilitate social connections, economic growth, and stronger healthy communities. The aim of ‘Ignite Community Art – A multi-cultural mobile art installation’ is to facilitate multicultural participation and regional connection through art and storytelling.
The Community Workshops
Ignite Community Art – A multi-cultural mobile art installation, represents more than 150 people from Gladstone, Rockhampton, Biloela, Agnes Water, Yeppoon, and Emerald who all came together and collectively through a vision created a community art piece which shares their stories as individuals and Central Queenslanders. The Ignite Community Art project is more than art – it’s the story of people from all over the world who now call our wonderful region their home.
